From the Other Side

Sending my love from the other side of the apocalypse
And I just about snapped

The page title came first and upon searching to see if I was referencing anything (because collective consciousness/zeitgeist) I found a weirdly applicable Fall Out Boy song.

Plus the album is a Stardust reference and I ADORE Stardust. So there’s that.

ANYWAY! Welcome to “From the Other Side” wherein I will be rewriting the entirety of “Eternity’s Irys” from Sylus’ PoV. I’ll be starting with weekly contributions for the month of June 2024 starting on the 6th. Additional entries will be posted as they come to me. This will likely remain a largely unscheduled endeavor as the main book takes priority and I’d like to avoid burnout until its complete.

So why am I practically posting the entire book for free before it even comes out? Because this is NOT the “Eternity’s Irys” for general audiences. I’d argue no version is, but Jeron’s PoV is by far the preferable one to have on a bookshelf. I definitely won’t have the entire book rewritten by October and, like all shorts, these are NOT getting second passes. Not immediately, anyway. I’d like these to serve as a VERY specific point of view to the events of EI. If you read them before you read the book, I hope they convince you to give the book a try.

Please Note that while “Eternity’s Irys” as a whole is fairly mature, Sylus’ perspective is wildly more so. If you read EI, crank the violence, angst, and horny to 11 and you have “From the Other Side”. As such, there may be more triggering/upsetting/uncomfortable elements in this version. This is why we didn’t go with Sylus’ PoV for general release. Still, I felt his voice deserved sharing, so that’s what you’ll unapologetically find here.

It might also be worth mentioning that EI is first person, but FOS is close third. It helps me track Sylus and Qaitax better.

You have been warned!

Enjoy!

AKA: Roadkill, Of Monsters and Men, and half of Spilt Milk I have reason to believe we are overindulging. “Can we not do this right now?” I have reason to believe we may be over-encumbered. “You have reason to believe… Just let me eat or we’ll both starve.” There is eating and then there is… Read more

  • That Sinking Feeling

Aka: The rest of Spilt Milk Balling into a puddle of ink, he slid out the bedroom window and rounded the building. Materializing outside the front door, he craned his neck up to find a flickering neon sign. “‘Miles’ Family Diner’.” He read aloud as he clutched his vest over his aching stomach. “Doesn’t sound… Read more

  • A Feast for the Senses

Aka “What You Eat” Sylus woke up with a start. Sitting rigidly upright on the bed, his nostrils flared, eyes widened, and his ears perked up at the sound of something scraping outside. He knew the sound well: Bone on stone. More specifically hollow bone on stone. “Food.” He growled. His stomach lurched and for… Read more
