Religion

All of humanity on Ancora acknowledges the existence of a god-like entity called Sion’Dri. History says the Keeper brought Sion’Dri’s knowledge to the people after a great tragedy which no one, not even the Keeper, recorded. These teachings are held within an increasingly abbreviated tome called the “Logos”.

Sion’Dri is universally represented as a six-armed cross with each arm ending in a sphere. Coincidentally, there are six denominations of Sion’Dri worship. Each sect has chosen a path to follow in honor of the entity they hold so dear.

Sects

Nondreh

Nondreh are non-worshippers, but still included on the six arms of the cross. One cannot deny Sion’Dri’s existence, however, one can deem it undeserving of worship. To Nondreh, Sion’Dri is an inescapable force of nature and its foolish to try to understand its will. They espouse just living a good life as no matter what anyone does, its all pre-ordained so thinking anyone knows what Sion’Dri favors most is arrogant at best and sacrilegious at worst.

Negative connotations tend to come from traditionally practicing sects misunderstanding Nondreh as non-believers and therefore unhinged and misguided. Some sects see their purpose as converting Nondreh to their own.

Notable Nondreh: Sylus Synclaire

Junesk

Junesk champion unconditional kindness to all. They celebrate Sion’Dri’s will by giving back to all who are in need. They tend to run charities and establish the more accepting sides of society.

Negative connotations extend from this kindness being seen as insincere or secretly selfish and self-serving.

Notable Junesk: Jeron Miles

Norazane

Norazane celebrate wandering rather than settling down roots in one place. They champion a wordly lifestyle of travel and gathering knowledge of the world around them.

Negative connotations are that their homelessness makes them dependent on the kindness of strangers. They are typically seen as lazy vagrants failing to fit into proper society.

Notable Norazane: Sylus Synclaire (conditionally)

Kelmect

Kelmect are the strictest of the sects. They focus solely on the nourishment of the self and soul through worship and works. They tend to obscure their bodies in layers of clothing and maintain sparing interpersonal relationships. They believe each is judged individually and so it is up to the individual to espouse the intellectual perfection of Sion’Dri.

Negative connotations are very common among the other sects. Kelmect are stereotyped as hating anyone outside their sect as well as championing themselves as the superior sect to all others. Some radical Kelmect have been known to disparage other sects for being too hedonistic.

Notable Kelmect: Inaya Lathek

(Two more sects remain, but have yet to be identified)
